Scene 1 — flashlight, looking around Change scene to Jamie Hale inside the massive dark attic storeroom, medium, in an aisle between boxes and a sheeted sofa. Adult man, grey t-shirt, dark jeans, barefoot. Phone in his right hand, flashlight on, beam . He turns his head and the phone together, slow, looking around the room. The beam hits an oak dresser, a wardrobe with one door open, a brass bed frame, hanging canvas, then a pile of chairs. Shoulders tight. He is still near the doorway light, but the beam is what he is using. Dust in the light. Scene 2 — rustle, he turns A rustle from behind him and to his left, cloth or cardboard, close, not from the window. He snaps his head toward it. His torso follows. The flashlight swings with him, the beam jerking across boxes. Face concerned, jaw tight. Scene 3 — his point of view, the furniture Change scene to his point of view. The flashlight beam lands on the piece of furniture the sound came from: the sheeted sofa, canvas draped over it, one corner of the sheet still settling as if it was just moved. Boxes tight on both sides. A gap beside the sofa dark enough for someone to stand in. The beam holds there. No face yet. The sheet stops moving. Scene 4 — his face Change scene to @Jamie Hale’s face, close, flashlight glow under his chin. Apprehensive, tense, eyes wide, mouth closed, breath held. He is still looking toward the sofa. He does not speak. Scene 5 — the voice The beam stays on the sofa. From the darkness behind him, another direction, a woman’s voice, teasing, seductive, alluring: “Hey handsome.” His eyes flick. He has not turned yet. Scene 6 — he spins, she is on the wall He spins back around, flashlight coming with him. Change scene to what the beam finds. Medium, waist-level of Vera, adult woman, goth, jet-black hair with one white streak, black crop top, against a clear stretch of wall between the wardrobe and the doorway, the only wall not buried in piles. She is low on the wall, one shoulder on the plaster, hip cocked, chin lifted. The flashlight illuminates her from chest to face, hard white, the rest of the attic still dark. She looks at him, eyes alluring. She has not stood up yet. Scene 7 — Vera stands up, close, waist-level Change scene to Vera, close, waist-level. She stands up off the wall, slow, uncrossing her ankle, coming to her full height in the beam, chest to chin in frame. Jet-black hair, one white streak, black crop top. She smiles, seductive, eyes alluring, looking at him. She stays in the light. She does not come toward him.
